Welcome back to the Transportation Column! I apologize to my regular readers that I took a bit of a hiatus earlier this year as work piled up with the 2018 Value Summit.
Speaking of the Value Summit, the 2019 Value Summit is actually what I would like to focus on this column. Once again, this year we have the opportunity to have a dedicated track for transportation at the Value Summit. However, that will only happen if you step forward with your success stories and papers on transportation related VE.
Are you a member of AASHTO or do you have close clients who are? Do you work for a transportation agency or DOT? Do you do VE studies on transit, road, rail or related infrastructure? If you are answering “yes” to any of these questions, then I want to hear from you!
How can we entice you and your transportation counterparts to participate in our dedicated Transportation Track at the 2019 Value Summit?
So, what exactly is the function of a Transportation Track? Is it simply “Inform Users”? Or, “Share Information”? Could it include “Build Relationships”? I think there is a higher order function above these. The more I work on this the more I come up with a mini FAST diagram around having a Transportation Track. Take a few minutes and see what you come up with, and drop me a note to share it if you can.
Until the next issue, I would like to continue to encourage any transportation professional out there who would like to share their stories to contact me at mike.pearsall@ontario.ca.
Hope to see you all at the 2019 Value Summit!
