Most of you probably haven’t barely dusted off your boots from Texas and already your 2019 Value Summit planning committee is well underway planning for our next Summit in Portland, Oregon.
At the 2018 Summit, I had a small informal planning meeting with some dedicated SAVE International Cascadia Chapter members, and in mid-July we had our first official 2019 Summit planning committee meeting.
Already there are a number of things to be excited about in the planning for 2019:
- We will be in Portland during the annual Rose Festival. We are not exactly sure yet how we will tie into this, but it promises some fun extra activities for the family.
- We should also align with Navy Fleet Week in Portland, a special part of the Rose Festival.
- Our host hotel, Portland Downtown Marriott Waterfront, is in a great location near the waterfront.
- We already have solid leads for exciting keynotes.
Portland is known for its quirkiness and more recently Travel Portland’s “You Can in Portland” tag line, both of which we hope to give you a taste of at the 2019 Summit. Speaking of taste, did you know that Portland is known as America’s best food city per the Washington Post and has over 600 food trucks and carts?
The initial Call for Papers has been drafted and will be issued very soon. I hope you have already been thinking about what you would like to present at the 2019 Value Summit. One slight change to note for this year is that we will be asking authors to clearly demonstrate how their paper ties to one or more of our core competencies.
Lastly, it is never too early to jump in as a sponsor for the Summit. I was very pleased to see the nice range of sponsors who stepped up to support the 2018 event and would like to be even more impressed this year. Sponsorship is very important – without it, we cannot have a quality event at a reasonable cost. More details about our sponsorship and exhibit opportunities will be published soon.
Your enthusiastic and dedicated 2019 Value Summit planning committee, with the help of the SAVE Cascadia Chapter, is off to a running start and we look forward to seeing you in Portland!
