By Katherine Bethany, FSAVE – President, SAVE International
Spring is here, at least it is at my home in the western part of the state of North Carolina, United States. I added two pictures of my view as I write this article, so those of you who read this column who live a bit further north will see there is hope – spring is coming your way soon.
It is hard to concentrate on a SAVE International topic when the ducks have decided to join me for the first time this season, as they clean the ground around my bird feeders for a bit of the dropped seeds. And yes, for those of you who have great memories, the rocking chair is one that I refinished and discussed in a previous column.
Spring is a season of change, and a lot of activity. The same can be said for SAVE in this season leading up to our annual Value Summit in Portland, OR coming up this June 8-11. Papers and presentations are being finalized, schedules set, meetings and classes all being prepared. It is a lot of work and I want to thank all of our volunteers, authors, instructors, Board and committee members, and our team at Talley Management Group for all of your outstanding efforts. This year’s program promises to be one of our best and Portland in June is beautiful, so please make plans to join us there.
Another reason this season before the Summit is so busy for SAVE is that we are trying to get several things accomplished to roll out. A big one is the Value Methodology Body of Knowledge (VMBoK) – please read our Director of Education’s, Rob Stewart, article in this issue. So exciting! I was very pleased, as you should be too, at the number of enthusiastic participants in the survey about the VMBoK. The team working on this effort is making sure that everything they are doing is very transparent and they are always looking for more participants. If you want to help, please contact our business office or Rob directly.
A final reason for the increased work load at SAVE is that it is very close to time to elect new members to the SAVE Board of Directors. Please stay tuned and vote when you get the notice. As Spring is arriving in your home, please take a moment to think about SAVE and how you might help us in the year ahead.
