While SAVE International has several approved training videos on its e-learning portal and offers excellent training opportunities at the annual Value Summit, additional external training for Certified Value Specialist (CVS) certification is encouraged as a matter of new knowledge, new applications and convenience.
In order to assure that external training is related to the requirements of the Core Competencies and to provide an expanding library for all SAVE members to use, a simple on-line process for submittal and review of the training has been developed. This process was discussed by the SAVE Certification Board at their June 2019 meeting and developed by the Professional Development Unit (PDU) Management & Audit Committee. The submittal form can now be accessed at www.value-eng.org/CoursePDUApproval.
Please use this online submittal form for any courses you would like reviewed and approved for PDUs that are four (4) hours or greater in duration. Approved courses will be posted to the Calendar of Events on the SAVE website for members and non-members to view and obtain PDUs for certification maintenance. Core Competency Education Objectives & Testing Parameters will be reviewed in detail and be the primary objective for approval. If you intend to use the course for internal use in training your staff and want to keep the content proprietary, please note this on the submittal form.
Please note that this submittal form is not intended for courses less than four (4) hours unless the course is being offered online. For presentations such as in-house ‘lunch & learns’ and presentations at SAVE chapter meetings, the presenter would prepare a Certificate of Attendance, stating the title of the presentation, the PDUs earned (1 Hour = 1 PDU) and the Core Competencies the presentation addressed. The procedures for documenting these shorter presentations are addressed in the SAVE Certification Program Manual.
