On January 27, the SAVE International Western Region hosted its first joint chapter event, Engaging the Team: Best Practices for Virtual VE Facilitation, that included participants from the Arizona, Cascadia (Pacific Northwest), Greater Los Angeles, Rocky Mountain (Colorado) and San Diego chapters. The depth of attendance stretched across the United States to New York and included representation from Canada and Egypt to give some international flair.
Participants had an opportunity to discover how the positive experience and feeling of an in-person meeting could be replicated in a virtual environment by sharing best practices from participants’ own experiences. The event was designed around positive psychology and appreciative inquiry with some of the same tools we use in facilitating workshops.
We believe the gold that was struck included…
- Attendance by 37 participants actively engaged in the hour-long event
- Networking opportunity to meet new colleagues
- Sharing best practices and learning new tools
- Consensus that a joint quarterly event was a great way to provide educational content and networking opportunities to SAVE members
- PDUs for certification maintenance
The event adjourned on time and allowed breakouts for chapters to meet and conduct chapter business. We are looking forward to our next quarterly joint chapter event in April 2021.
