By John Corcoran, PE, CVS – Director of Conferences, SAVE International
Greetings all and welcome to my first column! Last month I accepted an appointment to the SAVE International Board of Directors and have assumed leadership of the Value Summit planning from Mike Pearsall. With the Summit just over two months away, what have I gotten myself into?! All kidding aside, I am honored to be able to fulfill the responsibilities of both the Board and Summit planning
As Mike stated in last month’s Value World article, the 2021 Virtual Value Summit will feature an ‘Around the World Virtual Value Crawl’. The Crawl is in response to feedback received from our colleagues outside of North America who felt somewhat disconnected from last year’s Summit. The Crawl will occur on Tuesday, June 8. The agenda that day will be extended far beyond the normal agenda for the Summit by beginning earlier in the morning and concluding later in the evening so that our colleagues from outside of North America can reasonably attend portions of the Summit live.
The schedule is still coming together on the Crawl as it is a challenge to fairly accommodate all the various time zones from around the world. But we hope to convey to our colleagues outside of North America that we did not just hear their concerns, we listened and are acting on what we heard. While the Crawl can probably never be as effective as live attendance, we certainly believe it is a step in the right direction and we hope our colleagues from around the world will agree.
I am sure to have more to report on next month as the general plans for the 2021 Virtual Value Summit move quickly and final details are addressed. I am up for the challenge and I look forward to delivering on an outstanding Summit with the help of all the SAVE members involved in the planning.
