Hello everyone and welcome to another issue of Value World. I hope you are all staying safe as COVID variants stall a full reopening of what we remember to be a normal life. As we continue to monitor the evolving restrictions that COVID is creating, we are in the process of planning for the 2022 Value Summit. This requires me to deliver some good news and some bad news.
The good news, as mentioned several times at the 2021 Virtual Value Summit, is that we are moving forward with a live program in 2022 in Glendale, Arizona just outside of Phoenix. Although the COVID variants are creating some uncertain travel scenarios, we are cautiously optimistic that we can return to the live Summit format in 2022. The Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa has been selected as the venue for the Summit and conditional arrangements are being established at several other venues in the vicinity of the Summit site for other events on the Summit agenda. The goal is to develop a Summit agenda that will allow us to see some of the great attractions that Glendale offers, just like the program developed in 2019 when we last met in person and every year before that.
The bad news is that the 2022 Value Summit will not be a hybrid event which accommodates live and virtual participation. We received a lot of feedback after the 2021 Summit about conducting a hybrid event moving forward to accommodate all willing attendees who may not be able to travel readily. The Value Summit program committee has heard this feedback and will work strongly toward promoting such an event at some time in the future. Unfortunately, 2022 is not the year for a hybrid event. The main reason is that we are honoring commitments to the facility which are based on in-person attendance. Allowing virtual attendance could strongly affect our ability to meet our commitments.
On a somewhat lighter note, there is more bad news, particularly for any baseball fans out there like me. Major League Baseball has just released the 2022 schedule and the Arizona Diamondbacks are on the road the entire time that the 2022 Value Summit is in town.
The plan moving forward is for the Summit to be live every two years and to conduct virtual Summits in the alternating years. Please think about attending the Summit in 2022 in Arizona. It will be the first opportunity to see so many of your colleagues since 2019. If you miss the live Summit in 2022, the next opportunity will be in 2024!
I will have more to report over the coming year as we continue planning for the 2022 Value Summit. After a short breather following the 2021 Value Summit, the program committee is back at work developing a program you will enjoy in 2022. I look forward to reconnecting with you all in person in Arizona in 2022. Until then, please stay safe and healthy!
