The International Conference ICGCP 2023 “Global Convergence in Technology, Entrepreneurship, Computing & Value Engineering: Principles and Practices” was organized from May 5-7, 2023 at Sapthagiri College of Engineering in Bengaluru.
Chief Guest Ms. Anita Lukose, Associate Vice President, INVEST; Dr. Ganga Reddy C., Operations Director, Engineering R&D Services, HCL Technologies; and Dr. H. Ramakrishna, Principal Sapthagiri College of Engineering, inaugurated the conference. Later Keynote speakers Dr. Ganga Reddy and Dr. Marc Pauwels, Kehl & Partner, VA/VE Consultancy, Germany, addressed the participants. More than 250 research papers were presented by the scholars from SCE and other institutions and universities across the state.
Ms. Lukose oriented the participants on the importance of identifying appropriate functions of various products. She also congratulated all the participants of ICGCP 2023 for submitting their research work and urged them to continue research in the field of Value Engineering for the benefit of society as Value Engineering is going to play a vital role in the future.
Dr. Ramakrishna, who is also joint secretary for INVEST, SZC, informed the audience about the activities of INVEST and encouraged all the students to be a part of Value Engineering society by conducting various activities related to product/service functions. He invited more professionals to become Certified Value Engineers and he offered support in getting certification from south zone.
In his presentation, Dr. Pauwels highlighted the role of Value Engineering in new product development by presenting real time examples and case studies. He also discussed in detail about the Value Methodology and its application in new product development, and the contributions of L.D. Miles in creating Value Engineering concepts.
Mr. Arockiam Daniel, Executive Member, INVEST, SZC, delivered the valedictory talk on the topic “VAVE in VUCA World.” He stressed the need for the realization of “Sustainable Development” in each and everything we do to mitigate the current trends in the industries and across the globe.
He explained the connection between Value Engineering, which was defined as “Determine the Possible” by the father of Value Engineering, L D. Miles, and how it can help in realizing the objectives of sustainable development.
