This editorial write-up is going to be one focused on thanking those that serve SAVE International and welcoming change. Change is good and we are seeing another transition as the reigns of President go from Mike Pearsall to Rob Stewart.
It was a pleasure to work with Mike and I really liked his ‘roll up the sleeves’ mentality to jump in and move things forward. I also find Mike to be very curious and deliberate about the Value Methodology (VM) and believe he goes through every day of his life using function analysis for making the right decisions about breakfast, work, optimizing family time, what to wear to the office (ha ha), etc. It was a pleasure working with you, Mike.
Rob, congrats on this role, and just like Mike, it is a role that most of us in SAVE knew you would aspire to. Your effort to lead the development of the VM Guide was inspiring and I, for one, really think you have done a lot to move SAVE and the VM into a better and more impactful space for being a tried-and-true business and technology improvement tool.
In fact, I think SAVE has benefitted tremendously from all the past Presidents in the impact they provided. To mention those I have worked with, starting with Mary Ann Lewis who served as President from 2015-2017. Mary Ann was a spark plug for SAVE and led the charge, with others, on updating OMB Circular A131. Mary Ann’s leadership and drive was impressive and echoed a positive time within the organization. Then the reigns passed to Kathy Bethany, who really espoused the benefits and impact of VM after finishing an illustrative career with DOS OBO. And then to Renee Hoekstra, who had and has such energy and excitement for the service offering we provide and had a knack for the best VM one-liners ever – your energy has no equal.
So, I look forward to the next two years under Rob’s leadership and am thankful to all those mentioned above and others that have served on leadership roles with SAVE for their service.
I would also be remiss not to thank Talley (SAVE’s association management partner) and Melissa Baldwin for their efforts. Melissa you are a dynamo and I appreciate everything you and Talley do for us.
And one last thank you goes to Tom Wiggins who answered my call in my last Editors Voice. Tom will be supporting the Value World team with me and Melissa to review technical articles that we receive across the globe for inclusion in hopefully every Value World that we put out in the future. Thanks for answering the call, Tom.
Have a healthy and safe day out there everyone and I, for one, am excited that next year we will all meet in-person for the 2024 Value Summit.
