Editor’s Voice – July/August 2024

By Anthony Dunams, PE, CVS – Editor, Value World

Characters welcome” is the theme of this Editor’s Voice article and there are plenty of characters within SAVE International – many of whom were out, articulate, and engaged over the three days of the 2024 Value Summit.  The characters involved are one of the reasons I enjoy what we do because they drive the utilization of the Value Methodology (VM), they apply the methodology, they regulate the methodology, and they request the important need of providing VM services.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Value Summit in Nashville so much, even more than I expected – the food was phenomenal, the music quite enjoyable, and the scenery/weather was lovely.  But it is my colleagues and friends across the globe that were the hallmark of this conference.  I laughed so much with my colleagues from Jacobs, CTDOT and Sazan among others; I discussed music and politics with my European colleagues; I received more detail about how VM is growing in India, Saudi Arabia and other places across the globe (faster than in the U.S.); and the best part, I learned new things from every presentation made and there were some really good ones.

For me it is all about the cast of characters that are engaged in VM that bring it to life and allow me to say every day that I have the best job/role in my company as a Value Methodology Practitioner/Facilitator.

So, my fellow SAVE characters please don’t change – keep asking insightful questions, keep going with the most unique and humorous method for keeping our colleagues on time, keep the curly locks growing, keep the SW U.S. bravado going, keep playing music, keep driving new arenas and opportunities where VM can be applied, and keep the energy going for next year when we do this all again in India (USAV in Washington, DC first).

Stay cool and safe out there!
