James “Jim” Wixson, CVS-Life, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on May 1, 2023. Jim was in Industrial Engineer and led the VE/VM and LEAN efforts at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory at Idaho Falls for several years until his retirement in 2011.
In addition to being a CVS-Life with SAVE International, Jim was a Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CME) with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and a Six Sigma Black Belt. He taught part time at University of Idaho, Idaho Falls campus, including a class on “Value Engineering the Forgotten LEAN Technique” as well as webinars for SME on “Lean Design with Value Engineering” and other related topics.
Jim consulted to private industry including aerospace, heavy industrial and specialty tooling manufacturing. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran.
