By Laurie Dennis, PE, CVS-Life, FSAVE – Director of Certification, SAVE International Certification Advisory Panel
The SAVE International Certification Advisory Panel (CAP) continues their work on updating the certification program.
The new Value Methodology Associate (VMA) exam will be launched at the end of January 2025. VMA candidates will be allowed to take the existing VMA exam until December 31, 2024 – after which no VMA exams will be given until the new exam is launched.
Information about the new Value Methodology Fundamentals (VMF) 1 education program, including the VMF 1A, VMF 1B, and instructor courses, is available on the SAVE website here. Contact SAVE at info@value-eng.org if you have questions.
Both the VMF courses and exams are based on the SAVE VM Guide and the final updated Core Competencies, a copy of which is posted on the SAVE website.
The new Certified Value Specialist (CVS) application, renewal, and exam processes are scheduled for implementation in the first quarter of 2025. This includes transitioning the CVS exam to an online format and adding a live facilitation requirement to the exam.
The Certification Manual is being updated to reflect these changes and will be issued PENDING in early November, prior to transitioning to the new requirements. This will give certification candidates time to review and prepare for the new process. CVS candidates may submit their applications and renewals under the current process until December 31, 2024. No new CVS applications or renewals will be accepted after that date, until the new processes are put in place.
Presentations outlining the updated certification program, including opportunities for questions and answers, are continuing with the SAVE chapter meetings. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
SAVE will be sending more updates and reminders via email and articles in Value World to keep everyone apprised of what’s happening.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as the CAP moves forward.
