The Lawrence D. Miles Value Foundation has been working to help support a number of educational initiatives in support of universities, as well as initiatives to help SAVE International expand its offerings to its members.
Looking ahead to the SAVE 2017 Value Summit in August, the Lawrence D. Miles Foundation, as in past years, will be hosting our typical innovation forum. This year the forum will include:
- SAVE knowledge nugget “Facilitating a FAST Diagram”
- Introduction of the new Value Methodology Fundamentals I to replace the Module I
- Update on the upcoming 2018 Function Models Guide
- Academic Institution Value Engineering Courses Highlight (Drexel University, Richard Sievert professor MVF sponsored)
- Facilitation Skills Exercise
During the Facilitation Skills Exercise, those who attend will be engaged to practice facilitating a part of the Value Methodology job plan. This will be a great opportunity to learn, practice and experience this important skill as it applies to facilitating a VM team.
In 2018, the Foundation will be reviewing our educational materials to determine if adjustments and improvements are needed to enhance 21st century Value Methodology academic curricula and materials. Considering the evolution of the methodology, development of different function modeling techniques and incorporation of other Value Enhancing Methods (VEM’s), the Foundation sees a need to refresh what we offer to universities and academia.
The Lawrence D. Miles Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which develops educational materials for universities, SAVE members and Value Practitioners. Those on the board are not compensated. Royalties from the Value Methodology Pocket Guide and the shared royalties with SAVE from publishing the Function Analysis Guide are used to perpetuate the Lawrence D. Miles Value Methodology through development of these types of educational materials. However, the royalties the Foundation receives from our handful of publications are not enough to meet on-going projects and funding needs.
Therefore, the Foundation is dependent on generous donations from SAVE members and Value Methodology professionals to help us further our mission. Donations are tax deductible. When planning ahead, please consider contributing to the Foundation so we can continue providing high quality materials for academia and Value Methodology practitioners alike.
